Sustainability is at the core of everything we create, ensuring responsible sourcing, environmental restoration, and meaningful social impact. Our wood comes from internationally certified providers, while our teak is sourced exclusively from our partners at MLR Forestal. Additionally, we incorporate old-growth wood reclaimed from riverbeds, blending heritage with sustainability.

& Sustainability

Strategic Partnerships

Our commitment to sustainability is built on strong partnerships that integrate responsible agroforestry with world-class craftsmanship. While our collaboration with MLR Forestal ensures a fully traceable supply chain for certified teak and environmental support for communities in Nicaragua, we have also established partnerships with cocoa and coffee agroforestry plantations, further expanding our impact.

By sourcing from internationally certified providers and incorporating reclaimed old-growth wood from riverbeds, we ensure that every material we use aligns with our values. Through responsible sourcing, innovative manufacturing, and a deep respect for the environment, we bring high-quality, ethically crafted materials to the global furniture industry—delivering products that embody sustainability, social impact, and uncompromising quality.

A Model of Sustainability

MLR Plantation

Our partnership with MLR allows Hecho – Invisa to integrate premium, sustainably sourced teak into our manufacturing processes, reinforcing our commitment to responsible forestry and high-quality craftsmanship. MLR Forestal manages over 8,000 acres of prime teak forests in Nicaragua’s North Caribbean region, cultivated under strict agroforestry principles. Since 2013, these plantations have revitalized degraded lands, transforming them into thriving ecosystems that support biodiversity conservation and sustainable timber production.

Certified by FSC, RFA, and Verra-VCS, MLR’s operations uphold the highest environmental and ethical standards. With a high-volume sawmill and precision kiln-drying facilities, every step of the process is optimized for efficiency and quality. Beyond teak, we have forged partnerships with cocoa and coffee agroforestry plantations, incorporating diverse, sustainably sourced materials into our designs.

Production Capacity & Expertise

Partnerships

Our partnerships allow us to integrate a diverse range of sustainably sourced materials while fostering environmental regeneration and community impact. We collaborate with coffee and cacao producers in the region, sourcing reclaimed coffee wood from farm renovations and working with agroforestry initiatives that restore land and support local economies.

MLR oversees more than 8,000 acres of FSC, RFA, and Verra-VCS certified teak forests in Nicaragua, transforming degraded land into thriving ecosystems. With a vertically integrated approach, MLR’s nursery produces 600,000 plants annually, and processes 424,000 board feet of teak per month, ensuring efficiency, quality, impact and full traceability.

Expanding Sustainability in Craftsmanship

Impact-Driven

Beyond responsibly sourced woods and our own partner plantations, we collaborate with coffee and cacao agroforestry producers, reclaim old-growth wood through River Reclaimed Initiatives, and integrate sustainable textiles and innovative materials. Our commitment extends beyond sourcing—we work hand in hand with communities, fostering impact-driven strategies that regenerate ecosystems, preserve traditional craftsmanship, and create lasting economic opportunities. With access to over 30 certified wood species from global and regional providers, we have the flexibility to craft everything from bespoke artisan pieces to full-scale hospitality projects.
